The Yellow Nest Tulum: Floating Breakfast

The Yellow Nest Tulum: Floating Breakfast

Floating Breakfast…Tulum Style

Bali and their famous floating breakfast were not at the top of my bucket-list.

But once I found a similar excursion in Tulum, it was just the thing to up the exotic ante.

The booking was done on Viator.com. At the time the few reviews were great. Since then, its popularity has increased and there’s more feedback.

The Yellow Nest is a hidden gem deep in the Mexican jungle near Dos Ojos cenote. They offer pick-up from there for a minimal fee.

Since I was driving an SUV, I went the distance. It’s a very bumpy ride, but if you take your time…you’ll be fine.

The Yellow Nest was about a twenty minute ride from Aldea Zama. Their directions sent thru WHATSAPP were clear and concise.

Once I arrived, I picked a relaxing spot at the pool where the floating breakfast order would be placed. I chose the avocado toast with fruit and yogurt.

My beautiful welcome (alcoholic) drink set the vibes and was so yummy.

The juice (thought it was alcohol at first) was the only flavorless item in the floating breakfast.

They were thoughtful enough to bring a brownie with a lit sparkler for my birthday.

In addition, I got a free massage sampler from the masseuse on site.

The food was delicious. I had eaten my leftover dinner as breakfast just in case. But still ended up “cleaning” my plate.

There is an extensive breakfast menu to choose from.

Water, coffee and tea are included.

The Best Part

Once I selected my breakfast items, I entered the pool for pics/videos.

Since I had avocado toast,  the thick bread was hard to cut into without turning the basket over.

So I had to move breakfast to “land”!

The staff is really helpful if you need to transfer everything. Some people were comfortable eating in the water.

Temazcal @ The Yellow Nest Tulum: Floating Breakfast

The Yellow Nest does an amazing job of setting a tranquil and harmonious atmosphere.

It’s size and location makes it the quintessential retreat and escape.

The Muzak was just right and there was total cohesion.

To top it off, there was a temazcal experience which was new to me.

The temazcal can be physically compared to a sauna. The process itself can be spiritual if you’re in tuned and open.

Its a sacred place in Mexican culture to reset.

Its super hot in there, so make sure you’re adequately hydrated. We were in there for about twenty five minutes.

There are bikes to ride free of charge. The nearest cenote (Taak Bi Ha) is five minutes away. LM was nice enough to offer a ride there.

Though I didn’t get in, this cenote was cave-like and underground with the clearest turquoise water. There was a wedding being set up directly in the cenote.

Upon arrival, The Yellow Nest has containers of repellant readily available. It has a sweet natural fragrance and works.

Once you get wet, remember to reapply each time.

The Yellow Nest has wooden inspirational signs attached to almost every surface. There’s a teepee,  bird’s nest, and various Instagrammable Tulum signs.

I can definitely see myself returning as a guest of the hotel.

I think I would do the same: take a picture of the breakfast basket in the pool and then move to land. I don’t know how people manage to eat from the basket without turning it over (unless you only use your hands!).
    Anyway, Mexico is always nice.

Hi Mayra, I think it depends on what you order. But attempting cutting is hard!

Sandra, thanks you for sharing your travel experiences in Tulum. Eating by the beach is a great experience. I can only imagine how it feels to have breakfast inside a body of water. Wanted to go to Mexico in June, but everyone discouraged me from goung due to the tragic incidences that occurred recently. But will consider try the Yellow Nest in Tulum

Hey Kevin! I truly enjoyed Tulum!! Tragedy happens everywhere and the media will hype it up with a few stories. You can’t let that stop you! I think you would enjoy The Yellow Nest.
