Spice Miami Style
Haitians call it épice and in Spanish it’s especia!
Miami culture is no stranger to a little spice.
Last night (July 30, 2024), Visit Miami and Miami Spice upped the ante by holding their first annual charity event.
The Miami Spice season kickoff raised $25K in direct donations to Camillus House.
The event was held in downtown Miami at the Hyatt Regency. Three celebrity chefs donated their time and talents .
Chefs Robert Allum (Hyatt Regency), Amaris Jones (Chick’N Jones), and Jimmy Almeida (Bagatelle Miami).
I loved the sweet black truffle dressing of the appetizer, the chicken entrée was hot, fresh, and tender (I wish there were more of the cauliflower puree).
Chef Jones recently opened Chick’N Jones in Wynwood. I plan on trying it out soon.
I wasn’t a fan of the dessert. It was a doughnut/coffee cake-like bagel with a filling that could be described as a cream cheese consistency.
Giving and eating are huge parts of my life, so it was my utmost pleasure to be a part of this auspious occasion.
Every August and September, the heat gets turned up several notches with Miami Spice.
The foodie season allows one to sample a three-course lunch, brunch or dinner at over two hundred Miami restaurants.
Lunch/Brunch is $30/ $35 and dinner is $45/$60 (drinks and gratuity extra).
The first step is to visit the Miami Spice website.
You can check if a restaurant you had in mind made the list or see what’s being offered for the season.
Some restaurants return each year but new ones also make their debut.
How to Spice
The website has featured spots and you can filter by neighborhood.
Once you select a restaurant, you can view available days and times for Miami Spice.
Of course, the best part is seeing the menu availability.
Some of my past faves are Casablanca On The Bay (been there the most), Hakkasan Miami, Red South Beach and Komodo Miami.
Truluck’s has been my best fine dining experience to date and it was during Miami Spice.
This experience is a great way to check out the Miami restaurant scene and build your foodie repertoire!
Reservations are highly recommended!
In addition to the gala this year, Miami Spice now offers signature dining experiences where you can dine with Michelin star chefs (one example).
Have you been? If not would you try?

August 5, 2024 at 11:03 amThank you for putting us on to Miami Spice. I first learned about it from your IG posts, but your blog gave a more detailed presentation. The food looks delicious. I add this to my go-to event for next year. Moreover, it’s for a worthy cause. Thanks for sharing, Sandra.
