Paradise Beach Club vs Mr. Sanchos
I used to think beach club cruise excursions were a waste of time…especially with me living in Florida.
And I thought why pay for a pool when there’s multiple ones onboard (included in my cruise).
But now that I’ve done all inclusive beach clubs twice, it’s taught me to take things slow.
No two pools are the same. Sometimes a change in scenery is all you need.
I visited Paradise Beach first and had a great time.
The pool was advertised as heated but it wasn’t while I was there. I arrived early and was able to secure a pool side lounger.
Same with Mr. Sanchos but it has a swim up bar that was a little taller. They also served the alcohol in cups with catchy descriptions you could also personalize.
If you like the fish pedicures, they offer them.
Mr. Sanchos is larger with a non impressive buffet and more extensive food menu.
The whole fried fish was my fave and I ordered seconds.
Paradise has a taco truck on sight.
They both have pools (Mr. Sanchos has two) and an ocean front.
I heard Mr. Sanchos gets really crowded but thankfully, it was less people when I went.
Mr. Sancho’s advertises couple cabanas for an extra fee. Both offer massages.
Paradise’s website shows new offerings such as wave-runners, parasailing, banana boat rides, henna tattoo and hair braiding (also at Mr. Sanchos).
Their IG also advertises water hammocks with beverage service.
Both cost $68 per adult. Additional $14 for extras like Mr. Sanchos aquatic park.
Paradise Beach Club’s fun pass covers floating water park, kayaks, stand up paddle boards etc. Day beds cost $70.
They’re both a vibe in their own right. Its hard to choose one over the other!
Paradise has a more private island vibe especially with their small pier that leads to over water swings.
Chichen Itza in Progresso
I only visited Chichen Itza because it became one of the seven world wonders in 2007.
I had visited Mayan ruins in Belize and figured once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ’em all.
Well, it was unbarerably hot as I remembered the site in Brazil.
And out of all days, construction workers were doing maintenance in their bright orange safety gears and ropes…there went my pics.
I can’t ever recall seeing them in other people’s pictures.
On my tour, I learned Chichen Itza had the largest ball court in those times, the modern day people still slept in hammocks and in the past being cross-eyed and flattening the skull with wood were standards of Aztec beauty.
The lack of bed was probably the biggest surprise. They adorn the hammocks with pillows and blankets. I like hammocks but I prefer the stability of a bed for extended use.
The distance is two hours each way from port and of course accidents are inevitable. Good thing it was a Carnival excursion, because we arrived at port late.
Have you done either beach clubs or Chichen Itza?

July 16, 2024 at 12:26 amI’ve never taken a real cruise before (just an overnighter, and the boat didn’t have many amenities.. You’ve really whet my appetite to give a cruise a try. And interesting take on swimming pools as I’m an avid swimmer!
